Veterinary-related fear can significantly compromise both animal welfare and the effectiveness of medical care. This protocol establishes practical strategies aimed at progressively reducing the negative perception of veterinary environments through realistic modifications applicable to daily clinical practice. Recommendations include minimizing waiting times, physically separating dogs and cats, avoiding strong odors, reducing sudden noise, and promoting calm, predictable interactions with veterinary staff. The protocol also advises against accumulating multiple stressful procedures in particularly sensitive patients and encourages the use of food reinforcement and calm interaction whenever possible. The objective is to build veterinary environments that feel less threatening and emotionally safer for animals.
