Visual & Acoustic Separation Protocols

Visual & Acoustic Separation Protocols

Continuous exposure to barking, vocalization, intense smells, metallic sounds, and constant human movement represents one of the major sources of stress within veterinary hospitalization environments. This protocol promotes simple but highly effective measures aimed at reducing sensory overstimulation in hospitalized patients. Recommended strategies include physically separating dogs and cats, preventing direct visual contact between unfamiliar animals, using visual barriers between cages, and maintaining controlled noise levels, particularly during nighttime hours. Additional recommendations include minimizing unnecessary alarms, loud conversations, metallic impact noises, and chaotic movement in hospitalization areas. In many cases, relatively small environmental modifications can dramatically reduce anxiety levels and improve the patient’s adaptation to the clinical setting.
