Lighting & Noise Management

Lighting & Noise Management

Commercial environments often present high levels of visual and acoustic stimulation that may negatively affect the welfare of animals housed in-store. This protocol recommends adapting environmental conditions to reduce the impact of loud music, intense lighting, constant customer movement, and other potentially stressful stimuli.

Key recommendations include maintaining moderate noise levels, avoiding continuous loud music, and reducing sudden or repetitive sounds near animal housing areas. Warmer and more physiologically appropriate lighting should be used whenever possible, avoiding permanent intense spotlights or continuous excessive artificial light exposure.

Appropriate rest and darkness cycles should also be respected overnight, especially for young animals or species sensitive to environmental stress. The objective is to create calmer environments compatible with emotional and physiological stability.
