Minimal Necessary Human Interaction

Minimal Necessary Human Interaction

Human interaction is an important part of welfare for many dogs staying in boarding facilities, but it must be respectful and adapted to the emotional needs of each individual. This protocol promotes calm, predictable, and non-invasive interaction while avoiding excessive handling or unnecessary constant contact.

Key recommendations include allowing the dog to initiate part of the interaction whenever possible, avoiding abrupt approaches, and respecting signs of discomfort, avoidance, or the need for isolation. The level of human contact should be adapted to the dog’s personality and preferences, recognizing that some dogs require more social support while others need more space and tranquility.

The protocol emphasizes that quality care does not necessarily mean constant stimulation. Instead, it involves the ability to provide safety, stability, and emotional support without continuously invading the animal’s space. The objective is to promote more balanced and respectful human-animal relationships during boarding.
