Progressive Adaptation Protocols

Progressive Adaptation Protocols

Many animals develop fear toward veterinary environments as a consequence of repeated negative experiences or insufficient early habituation. This protocol proposes progressive adaptation strategies designed to gradually reduce negative emotional associations with veterinary care. Recommendations include scheduling non-clinical visits aimed solely at generating positive experiences, allowing calm interaction with the environment, and avoiding immediate invasive procedures in highly sensitive patients. Consultation duration and complexity should also be adapted to the emotional tolerance of each individual animal. The goal is to promote a more positive and emotionally stable relationship with veterinary environments while progressively reducing fear and anxiety responses over time.
