Respectful Birth Assistance

Respectful Birth Assistance

Birth should be understood as a complex physiological process in which the physical and emotional welfare of the mother must remain a central priority. This protocol recommends promoting quiet, safe, and predictable environments during labor, avoiding premature intervention or unnecessary handling when the birth process is progressing normally.

Key recommendations include reducing the number of people present around the mother, minimizing intense sound stimuli, and allowing natural nesting, birthing, and neonatal care behaviors to occur without unnecessary disruption. Intervention should take place only when objective clinical criteria justify it, avoiding additional stress during a particularly sensitive physiological and emotional moment.

The objective is to support births that are more compatible with animal welfare, maintaining a careful balance between veterinary supervision and respect for the natural rhythm of the process.
